British Wildcard Arthur Fery Advances to Wimbledon Fourth Round After Five-Set Win Despite Nosebleeds

British wildcard Arthur Fery defeated Zizou Bergs 2-6 7-5 2-6 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (10-5) in a Wimbledon third-round match on 4 July 2026. BBC News reported that the contest lasted four hours and 39 minutes on Court 18. Fery, ranked 114th and outside the top 100 at the start of the tournament, recovered from two sets down and three nosebleeds to advance.

He received treatment for the nosebleeds on three occasions, with the final one occurring while he served at 5-4 down in the deciding set. The 23-year-old had previously beaten Damir Dzumhur and Otto Virtanen. Fery became the first British wildcard to reach the Wimbledon fourth round since Andrew Foster in 1993.

He requested to play on Court 18 after his second-round win there and threw himself to the floor in celebration after the victory. "No words for it, honestly," Fery said. "I don't know what is going on right now.

He added that the nosebleeds are a recurring problem he plans to address after they occurred in three consecutive matches. Fery will next face either Matteo Berrettini or Grigor Dimitrov.
