British Woman Detained in Thailand After Man Found Stabbed in Pattaya Rental Home

A 21-year-old British woman was arrested in Thailand after a 34-year-old man was found dead with multiple stab wounds in a luxury rental home in the Pattaya area. The Guardian reported that officers arrived Thursday morning local time at the property in the beachside region two hours from Bangkok. Police found the man lying in a bathroom attached to a bedroom.

They determined he had been dead for about six hours. The woman, identified as his girlfriend, was sitting near the body. A 50cm machete-like knife had been washed in a sink. The woman told investigators that her partner had injured himself.

Officers noted inconsistencies in the account, including that the body appeared to have been moved and that bloodstains and signs of a struggle were present throughout the house. The man operated a cannabis farm. A UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson said the office is supporting the families of two British nationals in Thailand and remains in contact with local authorities.
