Britney Spears Reaches Plea Deal in Drink-Driving Case, Receives Probation and Treatment Order

The sighting came two days after Britney Spears, 44, reached a plea deal in her drink-driving case. Prosecutors reduced the original charge against Britney Spears to a “wet reckless” offence, which is typically used in cases involving no previous convictions, low blood alcohol levels and no accidents or injuries.
Under the plea deal Britney Spears must serve 12 months of probation and continue attending mental health and substance abuse treatment sessions.
Ventura County Superior Court Commissioner Matthew Nemerson imposed a $721 fine on Britney Spears, which equals £529. Matthew Nemerson ordered Britney Spears to attend weekly psychologist appointments and to see a psychiatrist twice monthly. Britney Spears is prohibited from consuming alcohol or non-prescription drugs under the court order.
Her lawyer Michael Goldstein stated that Britney Spears had accepted responsibility for her actions and made significant positive changes. The original arrest took place on March 4 near Britney Spears' home in Los Angeles after police stopped her for allegedly weaving between lanes on a highway in Ventura, California.
Following the incident, Britney Spears voluntarily admitted herself to a Southern California treatment facility in early April.
Since leaving rehabilitation Britney Spears has been using a chauffeur rather than driving herself. GB News reported that both sons relocated to Hawaii with their father in 2023. Britney Spears reconciled with her children last year.
