Buckingham Palace Says No Royal Residence Available for Prince Harry

Prince Harry arrived in London on Monday after his team said it had accepted an offer to stay at Buckingham Palace, a claim the palace rejected by stating that no royal residence would be available. Buckingham Palace said the duke's team failed to confirm acceptance by the deadline the previous week.

Royal sources added that Harry was informed on Saturday evening that accommodation would not be provided.

A spokesperson for Prince Harry said the team had formally accepted the offer but later received notice that it had been withdrawn. The spokesperson described the decision as disappointing. The palace described a sequence in which the duke's team initially did not confirm, then declined, then accepted again after arrangements could no longer be made.

The Sussex team maintains the offer was accepted and then withdrawn. Harry traveled alone because his wife and children would not accompany him due to security arrangements. He arrived to support his charities and promote the Invictus Games scheduled for Birmingham next year.

A court ruling on his claims against Associated Newspapers is scheduled for Tuesday. The Sussex team said the court date had been known the previous week. Prince Harry is scheduled to begin his engagements in London on Tuesday.

It remains unclear whether a meeting with King Charles will occur.
