Bull Bison Tosses Tourist 8 Feet at Yellowstone Campground

A bull bison attacked an unidentified tourist at Bridge Bay Campground in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, tossing the man approximately 8 feet into the air, nypost.com reported. The tourist was walking with his grandson when the bison charged. The animal had been taking a dust bath moments earlier before it approached a group of children taking cellphone photos and then turned on the man.

Montana-based photographer Mike MacLeod recorded the attack on video. He ran at the bison, yelled, and tried to appear large and intimidating to divert the animal from the injured tourist. Bystanders held the victim's hand, performed a blood sweep, and called 911.

The man reported significant pain in his hips and the leg he landed on, though no visible external injuries or bleeding were observed. MacLeod attributed the bison's aggression to the rutting season, which runs from June to September. No official update has been released on the condition of the injured tourist.
