Burning cross found in Chicago's Grant Park, police investigate
A large wooden cross was set on fire in Grant Park on Tuesday afternoon. Chicago police are examining how the object was placed there and what motivated the act. No injuries were reported.

Chicago police stated they are investigating how the cross ended up in the park and the motive behind the incident. No injuries were reported in connection with the event. Keinika Carlton, 43, was driving through the area with family members when she saw the cross.
She estimated it stood at least six feet tall and recorded video of the flames. Carlton said other drivers and pedestrians also stopped to look. Carlton described feeling shock, sadness, and disgust.
She questioned whether the act carried racial or religious intent. Her daughter, Alyna Carlton, 22, said the sight was unexpected. The Chicago Fire Department confirmed the object was a cross. Police said they are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the object on fire.
