BYD to Introduce Europe-Specific Electric and Hybrid Models
BYD plans a range of vehicles designed and built for European buyers. The first model, the Dolphin G, will launch next week.
The IndependentBYD stated it will release a series of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles developed specifically for European customers. The first of these models, the Dolphin G, is scheduled for introduction next week.
Alfredo Altavilla, special adviser for the European market at BYD, said customer preferences in Europe differ from those in China. He noted that European buyers prioritize trunk space and handling on varied road conditions, while Chinese buyers focus on rear passenger room.
Altavilla added that BYD began developing a European-specific portfolio two years ago. The Dolphin G will be sold only in Europe and will not be offered in China. The company has adjusted chassis and suspension designs for European roads. It is expanding its research and development team in Budapest and its design team in Milan.
BYD will open its first European factory in Hungary in the coming months. Executive vice-president Stella Li said the company is exploring additional production sites in Europe. 54 percent market share. 45 percent.
