Creative Artists Agency will present its 11th annual CAA Moebius showcase on May 27 and May 28. The two-day event will screen ten short live-action films selected from film programs across the country. Accompanying the screenings is the launch of Moebius Labs, a series of workshops and moderated conversations intended to connect participating filmmakers with creatives, producers, and executives.

This year’s participants include screenwriter Julia Cox in conversation with Liz Suggs, producer Jessie Henderson, filmmaker David F. Sandberg, and CAA motion picture literary agents. Filmmaker Max Barbakow will host the first evening and deliver opening remarks; a second Academy Award-winning writer and director, to be announced later, will host the second evening.

The showcase was conceived by CAA Motion Picture agents Christina Chou, Zach Kaplan, and Pete Stein alongside Lingie Park. It is organized by a cross-agency team that includes Derrick Davidian, Emily Ref, John O’Shea, Katy Needham, Laila Ghosheh, Milo Pepper, Ryan Uria, Sammie Johnson, Seth Parker, Walter Szafran, and CAA alum Chloe Landau.

1 on May 27 will feature “Loquita Por Ti,” directed by Greta Diaz Moreau; “Becoming,” directed by Aidan Forte; “The Alternative Resolution,” directed by Harold Kahane; “Poster Boy,” directed by India Opzoomer; and “Dongmei,” directed by Rubing Zhang.

Night 2 on May 28 will include “Club Rats,” directed by Grace Godvin; “Aayat,” directed by Sonia Bhatia; “Beware The Wolves,” directed by Alex Bush; “Norheimsund,” directed by Ana Alpizar; and “Kumquat,” directed by Lex Lee Morales. Chou, Kaplan, and Stein said in a joint statement that the addition of Moebius Labs is intended to create a more direct exchange between emerging filmmakers and established industry professionals.
