Representative Lordan Suan's office denied a Facebook post that attributed to him a statement calling Vice President Sara Duterte unwelcome in Cagayan de Oro's first district. " Rappler reported that the post had drawn more than 2,300 reactions, 1,500 comments, and 500 shares as of July 2. The group itself has more than 500,000 members.
Political Affairs Officer 6 Joel Torres of Suan's office sent a Viber message to Rappler on July 1 stating: "We strongly deny that statement. Isa na naman po itong false information. " An alleged deleted interview snippet that circulated online and was attributed to Suan was determined to be AI-generated.
DetectAI scored the clip at 69 percent likelihood of AI generation, while HiveModeration flagged the audio at 99. Suan is one of 11 prosecutors named by the House of Representatives for Duterte's impeachment trial, which is scheduled to begin on July 6. He and Representative Terry Ridon are the two newest members added to the team.
Suan voted in favor of impeachment in February 2025 and again in May 2026. Duterte faces accusations of misusing public funds, accumulating ill-gotten wealth, and making death threats against the President.
