A Cambodian gambling company leased buildings on land shared with one of its casinos to operators who used the structures for large-scale impersonation scams and human trafficking, Reuters reported. The company, Lim Heng Group, rented the buildings at above-market rates under a March 2024 agreement.
The structures stood tens of meters from the Royal Hill casino at the Thai-Cambodian border in O'Smach.
Site description and operations Rooms inside the buildings were altered to resemble police stations and bank offices from multiple countries. Former workers and Thai military personnel said the setups were used to deceive victims worldwide. Reuters reporters visited the property twice in 2026 and interviewed people who had worked inside the buildings.
Thai soldiers inspected the site on March 6. The report marks the first public account of the company's commercial connection to the scam compound.
