Canada defeated the United States 4-0 on Thursday to advance to the semifinals of the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship. Goaltender Jet Greaves stopped all 34 shots he faced. Macklin Celebrini also scored in the victory.
The game took place after the United States defeated Canada in overtime during February's Olympic gold medal match. Canada had exited last year's world championship in the quarterfinals following a loss to Denmark. Canada withstood a third-period push by the reigning champions to secure the shutout win.
