Canada denied a visa to Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey on June 12, 2026, blocking him from entering the country for the national team's opening World Cup match against Panama. FIFA stated that Partey will be unable to travel from Ghana's team base camp in Boston to Toronto for the June 17 fixture because his visa application was refused by the Canadian government.
