Canada Extends Generic Drug Pricing Agreement to 2028, Continuing Savings for Public Plans
The pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance and Canadian Generic Pharmaceutical Association extended a 2023 pricing deal through 2028. The pact covers generic drugs supplied to public plans that serve many Canadians.
dnaindia.comThe pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance and the Canadian Generic Pharmaceutical Association extended their agreement on a pricing initiative for generic drugs to 2028. The announcement was made on June 11, 2026, from Ottawa, ON. The new initiative extends a 3-year agreement signed in 2023.
That earlier deal has generated significant savings for Canadian drug plans. Generic-drug manufacturers supplied about 80% of generic drugs reimbursed by public drug plans through which many Canadians receive coverage. The extension supports price stability and predictability for those drugs.
Benzinga reported the joint announcement from the two organizations.
