Background on the defendant The defendant founded an auto parts company in his garage in 1957 that grew into one of Canada’s largest manufacturers. He later started a horse-racing business and resigned from the auto parts firm’s chairmanship in 2011.
He also established a political party in Austria the following year. The trial began in February and concluded with Friday’s verdict on the remaining charges.
