The NFL suspended Arizona Cardinals director of college scouting Ryan Gold indefinitely on July 17 after determining he shared confidential nonpublic information about the team's 2026 draft selections before they were announced and participated in parlay bets on NFL and college games.
The league's review included interviews and examination of electronic records, and the team cooperated fully. Gold's attorney, Mike Caspino, stated on July 19 that the accusations are blatantly false.
Caspino said Gold's wife placed $10 weekly parlay bets with high school friends and that Gold had no involvement. He added that Gold could not have disclosed the draft picks because only owner Michael Bidwill and general manager Monti Ossenfort knew the selections in advance. The Cardinals issued a statement the day of the suspension saying they fully support the league's decision.
The league found no indication that any other Cardinals employee, coach or player knew of or took part in the activity, and it found no evidence that any game was affected. Gold is in his 13th season with the Cardinals. He was promoted to director of college scouting in June 2025 after three years as assistant director and four seasons as a college scouting coordinator.
The NFL bars players and club personnel from betting on NFL games or sharing nonpublic information.
