Prates, 32, improved his professional record to 24-7 with the win, which marked his 19th victory by knockout. Maddalena, 29, fell to 18-4, with 12 wins by knockout. Forbes reported that Prates earned a $100,000 bonus for his performance against Maddalena at the event.
After the victory, Prates called for a match against the winner of the upcoming welterweight title fight between Islam Makhachev and Ian Machado Garry. “I can punch, I can knee, I can kick … so I’m better, and now I feel like I’m the number one contender,” Prates stated. In the co-main event, Quillan Salkilld defeated Beneil Dariush via first-round TKO.
Salkilld, 26, improved to 12-1 with the win, while Dariush is 36 years old. On the main card, Steve Erceg defeated Tim Elliott by unanimous decision in a flyweight bout. Marwan Rahiki defeated Ollie Schmid by TKO in a featherweight bout.
Brando Pericic knocked out Shamil Gaziev in the second round in a heavyweight bout. Louie Sutherland defeated Tai Tuivasa by unanimous decision in another heavyweight bout.
