Cartel drones strike Mexican village after residents warned authorities

Mexican authorities denied reports of the attacks. After an inquiry, the Security Cabinet posted on X that events described in news articles had been ruled out.

Broader context The La Nueva Familia Michoacana cartel was designated a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. government last year. The group has expanded into Guerrero in recent years, prompting residents to form vigilante groups armed with rifles, grenades, and their own drones.

Hundreds of residents have fled the area in response to the violence. Similar incidents occurred elsewhere in Mexico during the same period, including clashes in Sinaloa and the discovery of eight bodies in Chiapas.
