NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Michael McGee pleaded guilty May 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania to one count of possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl, one count of possession with intent to distribute heroin, and one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

The charges stem from a law enforcement investigation that recovered 4,486 grams of fentanyl, 1,240 grams of heroin, 1,080 grams of cocaine, two firearms and $13,285 in cash linked to McGee. Under federal sentencing guidelines he faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of 40 years on the fentanyl count alone. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 9.

The plea resolves all three counts contained in the indictment returned by a federal grand jury. McGee must also forfeit the cash and any interest in the firearms seized during the investigation.

The case forms part of the Justice Department’s broader initiative targeting fentanyl trafficking networks that supply western Pennsylvania. Federal prosecutors have pursued similar charges against more than two dozen defendants in the region since 2024, reflecting a sustained enforcement focus on distributors responsible for kilogram-level shipments of synthetic opioids.

This marks the latest guilty plea secured by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania in opioid trafficking prosecutions. The original indictment was filed in late 2025 following a multi-agency investigation that included the DEA Pittsburgh Field Division and local police departments.

Congress has separately appropriated additional funding in the current fiscal year for fentanyl interdiction task forces operating along domestic distribution corridors.
