Cearvol Wave Lite Hearing Aids Offer Earbud-Style Design at $299

Cearvol introduced the Wave Lite hearing aid, a low-cost over-the-counter device designed to resemble Bluetooth earbuds rather than traditional medical equipment. The product is sold in black or off-white and weighs 4.17 grams per unit. It ships with a compact charging case that has a fabric cover and includes four sizes of ear tips in open and closed styles.

The hearing aids have a bulbous shape outside the ear but insert into the ear canal with a twist. They remained secure during extended wear and did not dislodge easily. The devices lack physical buttons and instead use tap controls for volume and scene selection. They are lightly magnetic and can stick together when removed from the case.

An accompanying app runs a hearing test lasting under ten minutes that adjusts frequency boosts based on user responses. Users can also enter an existing audiogram manually. After setup, the app provides volume controls and four scene modes labeled Indoor, Conversation, Restaurant, and Outdoor.

The hearing aids support Bluetooth streaming with noticeable bass and clear high frequencies. Noise cancellation handled moderate background sound during media playback. Ambient sound amplification produced only moderate improvement. Voices often sounded thin, and sharp sounds such as footsteps could become overpowering. Background noise was sometimes increased rather than reduced.

Cearvol states a battery life of 6.5 hours per charge.

Testing recorded 5 hours and 45 minutes of mixed use. The case supplies an additional 15.5 hours. The company says future production batches will extend battery life to 8 hours in the hearing aids and 20 hours in the case. The charging case also includes a 3.5 mm auxiliary port that routes audio directly to the hearing aids.
