Cebu Pacific to Begin Installing Starlink on Some Aircraft in 2027

Cebu Pacific announced on July 14, 2026, that it will install Starlink internet service on its aircraft, with the rollout targeted to begin in 2027. The carrier said it will become the first low-cost airline in Southeast Asia to provide the service.

Starlink uses a constellation of low-Earth-orbit satellites to deliver faster and more responsive connections than many traditional inflight Wi-Fi systems.

Once available, the service is expected to support high-definition streaming, online gaming, messaging, and work applications for passengers. Cebu Pacific also plans to use the system to improve connectivity for flight crews and operations teams. The airline did not specify which aircraft or routes would receive Starlink first, how quickly the service would expand across its fleet, or whether passengers would pay for access.

Representatives told Rappler that details on aircraft selection, routes, rollout pace, and pricing will be released closer to the 2027 start date. The move forms part of a larger agreement among airlines backed by U.S. private equity firm Indigo Partners.

Cebu Pacific, Frontier Airlines in the United States, Wizz Air in Europe, Volaris in Mexico, and JetSMART in South America together expect to equip more than 1,000 aircraft with Starlink. “Reliable, high-speed connectivity has become an expectation for today’s travelers,” Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer Xander Lao said.
