Cecile Landi Hired as Georgia Gymnastics Coach Ahead of NCAA Semifinals

# Cecile Landi Joins Georgia Gymnastics for NCAA Semifinals Run The Georgia Bulldogs gymnastics team will compete in the NCAA semifinals at Dickie’s Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, on Thursday. This marks the team's first appearance in the semifinals since 2019. The team finished second to Florida at regionals this season, after its season ended early a year ago following a performance in regionals.

Cecile Landi was hired to the open coaching position at Georgia. Landi stepped away from coaching elite gymnastics two years ago. She and co-head coach Ryan Roberts held a first meeting with the Georgia team.

Landi's Coaching Background and Olympic Ties Cecile Landi and her husband Laurent guided athletes at World Champions Centre, including two-time Olympic champion Simone Biles and three-time Olympic medalist Jordan Chiles.

Landi competed for France at the 1996 Olympics. She has two-plus decades in coaching. Georgia's gymnastics program won its last of 10 national titles in 2009. The NCAA nationals eight-team field includes Georgia, ninth-seeded Arkansas, and 13th-seeded Minnesota.

Utah, Alabama, and California did not qualify for the NCAA nationals in Fort Worth.

Team Stability and Leadership The Georgia gymnastics roster has largely remained intact since Cecile Landi’s arrival.

The team is led by senior floor specialist Eryn Williams and senior Ja’Free Scott. Several college-bound athletes mentored by Cecile Landi at World Champions Centre had opportunities altered or pulled when a new coach took over.
