Celtic v Hearts Title Decider Set for Saturday

Celtic will host Hearts at Celtic Park in Glasgow on Saturday in a Scottish Premiership title decider that will conclude the season. Hearts have led the league since September and hold a one-point advantage entering the final day. A result other than a Celtic victory would secure the title for Hearts, who last won the league in 1960.

Celtic secured a 3-2 victory at Motherwell on Wednesday night through a late penalty decision. The win kept the title race alive and positioned Celtic to retain the championship they have won in 13 of the last 14 seasons. Celtic enter the match having secured six consecutive victories.

The home side has maintained a consistent approach in recent matches. The only remaining selection question is a choice on the wing. Forward players have contributed goals in recent games, including from substitute appearances. The visiting side will be without two players who sustained Achilles injuries during the midweek fixture.

Two others who returned from prior injuries were substituted before the end of their most recent match as part of workload management. No additional fitness concerns were reported.

Hearts will win the title with either a victory or a draw.

Celtic must win the match to retain the championship.

The Celtic manager said his team had shown strong character in recent weeks. "We may not win it, but what we have done is that we have fought really impressively, I think, throughout these last number of weeks," he stated. "Going into the lion’s den, even though we've been top of the league since September or so, we’re still going to be the underdog," he said.
