Celtics Trade Brown to Sixers for George and Picks
The Boston Celtics traded guard Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers for forward Paul George and multiple draft picks. The deal also includes a 2028 first-round pick that could convert to a pick swap and a 2031 unprotected first-round pick.

The trade lowers the Celtics' playoff ceiling even if the team wins 50-plus games next season. The franchise had ranked first in regular-season and playoff wins during the 2020s and was the only team to win a championship and reach another Finals in that span.
Philadelphia receives an All-Star forward who can handle more of the scoring load when its center misses time, operate as a secondary playmaker, and provide strong perimeter defense. The 76ers had previously agreed to a four-year deal with another forward but now add a player on a different level from anyone they had tried at that position before.
Boston added center Mitchell Robinson and retained the rest of its core after the trade. The team went 56-26 last season despite its star forward playing only 16 games while recovering from a torn Achilles. Philadelphia gains a forward who can connect its two guards and its center, though Brown could also be an awkward fit on the roster.
