Jayson Tatum said Tuesday night that it is tough to see Jaylen Brown leave the Boston Celtics after their nine-year partnership. Tatum made the remarks at a Q&A event promoting an upcoming book, his first public comments on the trade. Brown was sent to the Philadelphia 76ers this week in exchange for Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks, ESPN reported.
Tatum said the ending of the partnership felt abrupt and that it is weird to prepare for next season without Brown. The two players reached the NBA Finals together twice and won one championship. Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens said Monday that the trade was made to gain optionality that was difficult to achieve given the combined salaries of Tatum and Brown.
Tatum added that he is ready to welcome Paul George, Mike Conley and Mitchell Robinson to the roster and move forward with the new additions.
