Celtics Trade Jaylen Brown to 76ers for Paul George and Draft Picks

The Boston Celtics traded Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers on July 1. In exchange, the 76ers sent Paul George along with two first-round picks and two second-round picks. Brown completed his tenth and final season with Boston after averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 47.7 percent from the field.

He became the fourth player in franchise history to post at least 25 points, five rebounds and five assists in a single season. The 76ers now pair Brown with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe. Maxey averaged 28.3 points per game last season.

Brown’s arrival adds another high-volume scorer and two-way wing to the roster. George averaged 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists while shooting 43.9 percent in 37 games during the 2025-26 season. His availability has been limited in recent years, appearing in 60 or more games just once in the prior seven seasons.

With Brown gone, Jayson Tatum becomes the clear focal point for Boston. Derrick White and the team’s remaining guards are expected to handle more ball-handling duties.
