Celtics Trade Jaylen Brown to 76ers for Paul George and Multiple Draft Picks
Jayson Tatum spoke publicly Tuesday night about the trade of Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics to the Philadelphia 76ers. The Celtics acquired Paul George and four draft picks in the deal. Brad Stevens said the move aimed to create salary flexibility.

Brown was traded this week to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks. Tatum made the comments at a Q&A event promoting an upcoming book. He noted that the two played together for nine seasons, reached the NBA Finals twice and won a championship.
"You play on a team with a guy for nine years," Tatum said. " Tatum added that the abrupt ending still left room to appreciate what the pair accomplished. "It just makes you appreciate the moments and time that we had," he said.
"Obviously, it came to an abrupt ending, but it doesn't mean that it wasn't super successful. " Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens said Monday that the trade was made to gain optionality that was difficult due to the combined salaries of Tatum and Brown. Tatum acknowledged the business side of the league.
"The NBA is an incredible business; it's an incredible job, but there are some downsides to the business and moments like this, where you just kind of feel like you're going to be on the team with somebody, because that's all you know," he said. "And then it's just like, one day you find out that they're no longer on your team anymore.
" Tatum said he is ready to welcome new additions Paul George, Mike Conley and Mitchell Robinson to the roster and move forward with them.
