Chelsea and Manchester City are set to contest the English FA Cup final on May 16, 2026. Manchester City are the first side to compete in four consecutive finals in the competition. Chelsea secured the FIFA Club World Cup last summer and are seeking another trophy.

Manchester City defeated Crystal Palace 3-0 in the English Premier League on Wednesday. First-half goals from Antoine Semenyo and Omar Marmoush put the side in control, and a late strike from Savinho completed the scoreline. The result came in a late-season match as City remain in contention for the Premier League title.

Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw at Liverpool in their most recent Premier League match on Saturday. Ryan Gravenberch scored for the home side after six minutes. Enzo Fernandez equalized for Chelsea 10 minutes before halftime. The match marks the culmination of the domestic cup competition.

Manchester City lost to Crystal Palace in last year’s final and will look to return to winning ways. Coverage includes live build-up, team news and photo updates.

Clashes occurred after a football match in the western Libyan town of Tarhuna on Thursday. The match between Tripoli’s Al-Ittihad SCSC and Misrata’s Asswehly SC was held behind closed doors and suspended shortly before the final whistle after players protested over a penalty decision.

Fights then broke out between supporters and security forces outside the stadium, leaving several people injured. A government building was set on fire in the capital, Tripoli, during related violence. The incidents were reported by the Libyan news agency LANA.

A sporting facility in the U.S. state of Arizona is preparing to host the Iranian football team ahead of the FIFA World Cup. The tournament opens next month in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Tucson will serve as the base camp for the team, with training at the Kino Sports Complex.

Grass is being maintained to FIFA-regulation height for the team’s group-stage matches in Los Angeles and Seattle. Hotel rooms and meeting spaces have been secured and security measures are in place. The director of the complex told AFP the aim is to provide a positive experience for the team.

The United States-Israeli war on Iran approaches its 12th week as these preparations continue.
