Chicago White Sox Place Everson Pereira on Injured List with Ankle Sprain, Recall Tanner Murray

CHICAGO — The Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Everson Pereira on the 10-day injured list retroactive to Thursday with a left ankle sprain. The injury occurred during Wednesday's game at Miami. Pereira, 24, has appeared in five games this season with the White Sox, batting .250 with one home run, one RBI and three runs scored.

The White Sox recalled infielder Tanner Murray from Triple-A Charlotte before Sunday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Murray, 26, has not yet played in the major leagues. In six games with Charlotte this season, he has batted .304 with two home runs, seven RBIs and six runs scored.

Pereira and Murray were acquired by the White Sox from the Tampa Bay Rays in November 2025 in exchange for right-handed pitchers Yoendrys Gómez and Steven Wilson. This marks Pereira's first season with Chicago. Murray has spent his professional career in the minors prior to this recall.

The White Sox entered Sunday's game with a 2-0 home record against the Blue Jays in the three-game series. A win would mark the team's first sweep of Toronto in 10 years and their first 3-0 start at home since 2004. The series is part of the early 2026 Major League Baseball season.

Pereira's placement on the injured list means he is ineligible to play until at least mid-next week, pending recovery from the ankle sprain. Murray is available to play in the infield for Sunday's game.
