China Imposes Export Controls on 10 U.S. Defense and Aerospace Firms

China imposed export controls on 10 American companies involved in defense, aerospace and rare earth mining, Euronews reported. The measures were announced on Monday by China's Commerce Ministry, which prohibited Chinese exporters from supplying dual-use items to the listed entities. The ministry stated the move responded to the U.S.

Government's addition of firms to its Chinese military enterprise list and aimed to safeguard national security. The restrictions also apply to organizations or individuals in any country or region that transfer or provide dual-use items originating in China to the listed entities.

China's Finance Ministry separately announced that government agencies are prohibited from purchasing products from 46 American companies, including Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and General Dynamics units.

The 10 companies subject to the export controls are AVEOX in Simi Valley, California; Red Cat Holdings, Teal Drones and IMSAR in Utah; Jaia Robotics in Bristol, Rhode Island; Ball Aerospace & Technologies in Broomfield, Colorado; Oshkosh Defense in Oshkosh, Wisconsin; L3Harris Maritime Services in Norfolk, Virginia; MP Materials in Las Vegas, Nevada; and USA Rare Earth in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

The sanctions were announced one month after U.S. President Donald Trump visited Beijing for talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Earlier this month the U.S. Defense Department added Alibaba, Baidu and BYD to a list of firms it says have links to the Chinese military, preventing those companies from receiving U.S. military contracts.

Baidu stated that the suggestion it is a military company is totally baseless.
