China’s LNG imports have risen to 178,000 tons per day, the highest level since February. Russian exporter Novatek has reduced cargo prices for Arctic LNG 2 by 30 percent to 40 percent to attract additional Chinese buyers.
The Dalian terminal in Liaoning province is already linked to pipeline networks extending from Russia. China remains the only purchaser of sanctioned LNG from the Arctic LNG 2 project. The first delivery arrived in August 2025.
Since then, China has purchased more than 40 cargoes, totaling roughly 2.6 million tons. Before those shipments began, China quarantined the Beihai terminal and ended long-term Australian LNG imports at the site.
