China’s customs data showed strong gains in exports of green energy and battery products to the US in May 2026, Semafor reported. The figures come after President Trump’s visit to Beijing prior to June 22 and reflect both thawing trade tensions and rising demand for power to run AI systems. Chevron struck a deal on June 16 to sell electricity to Microsoft.
The agreement will support construction of a data center in Texas that could become one of the largest in the United States. Semafor reported that US tech companies are also turning to natural gas to meet the energy needs of expanding data centers.
