Regional mediation role Pakistan has hosted face-to-face talks between the United States and Iran aimed at ending the conflict involving Israel. Pakistani army officials have been involved in the mediation process. Chinese officials said they appreciate Islamabad's constructive role and will work with Pakistan to contribute to peace and stability in the Middle East.
In March, the two countries issued a five-point initiative calling for peace talks and restoration of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz carries roughly a fifth of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas shipments under normal conditions.
