newser.comChinese exports of solar cells and panels rose in April even after the government ended export tax refunds on April 1. Demand for solar installations in Africa, Southeast Asia, and Europe remained high amid the ongoing oil and gas supply situation. Exports to Southeast Asia and Africa fell from March records that had benefited from the refund policy, but they were still 75 to 85 percent higher than in April 2025.
Africa increased 83 percent from a year earlier. South African purchases rose more than 81 percent, and the Democratic Republic of Congo also became a significant buyer. Exports to Southeast Asia grew 75 percent year over year. The Philippines recorded the largest increase within the region.
The data showed that overseas demand stayed strong despite expectations that prices would rise without the tax refund.
