Christian Leaders to Read Bible Aloud in Weeklong Event in Washington

Event Overview

An event involving more than 495 Christian leaders will take place in Washington, DC, at the Museum of the Bible.

Participants will read the Bible aloud from Genesis to Revelation over the course of a week, from April 19 to 25, 2026. The gathering commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States and includes an opening ceremony on April 18, 2026. The event will be livestreamed for free on Great American Pure Flix.

It features national leaders from Congress and the White House, as well as actors, directors, and faith leaders. Six cabinet-level members from the current administration are on the schedule.

Participants and Schedule

The roster includes six governors and 20 members of Congress.

Hollywood and entertainment figures are also participating. Several pastors, podcasters, and authors will read portions of the Bible. According to the event organizer, who is the founder and president of Christians Engaged, the initiative was inspired by the biblical story of Nehemiah.

The event aims to encourage a return to spiritual foundations ahead of the nation's anniversary. The organizer stated that the participation of national leaders sends a message about the importance of faith in the country.

Additional Features Prayer and

worship sessions will occur at the end of each hour of Bible reading, led by Christian artists.

More than 100 faith-based ministries have partnered to support the event. The organizer told media outlets that the event seeks to promote daily Bible reading for the well-being of the country and to address leadership challenges.
