Christian Leaders to Read Bible Aloud in Weeklong Event in Washington

The gathering commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States and includes an opening ceremony on April 18, 2026. The event will be livestreamed for free on Great American Pure Flix.
It features national leaders from Congress and the White House, as well as actors, directors, and faith leaders. Six cabinet-level members from the current administration are on the schedule.
The roster includes six governors and 20 members of Congress.
Hollywood and entertainment figures are also participating. Several pastors, podcasters, and authors will read portions of the Bible. According to the event organizer, who is the founder and president of Christians Engaged, the initiative was inspired by the biblical story of Nehemiah.
The event aims to encourage a return to spiritual foundations ahead of the nation's anniversary. The organizer stated that the participation of national leaders sends a message about the importance of faith in the country.
