com reported. Stewart, who plays third base and first base, entered Dave Roberts' office before the game and requested five to 15 minutes of advice. Roberts, the Los Angeles Dodgers manager who led the National League squad, spoke with Stewart for about 20 minutes on competition, winning pitches, teammates and standards.
Philadelphia Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly and St. Louis Cardinals manager Oli Marmol were also present. On July 17 Stewart said he wanted to enjoy his first All-Star experience while learning from veteran managers.
He added that he learned how veteran players think, approach the game and maintain their routines. Stewart is the eighth Cincinnati Red chosen for an All-Star Game at age 22 or younger. Elly De La Cruz was the most recent, in 2024.
Before the All-Star break Stewart had recorded 65 RBI, the third-most by any National League rookie before the break since 1933.
