Clalit Health Services was selected on Monday, June 21, 2026, by Horizon Europe to join the PANDAI international research project. The €8 million initiative will build an AI platform that connects healthcare systems across Europe to predict and manage future pandemics.
The platform will give policymakers, epidemiologists, and public health authorities faster tools to spot and respond to outbreak signals.
Other participants include the World Health Organization, the University of Oxford, and research organizations from the United Kingdom, Spain, Denmark, Luxembourg, and Bangladesh. Clalit operates community clinics and hospitals equipped with advanced electronic medical records. Its data resources were cited as a key factor in the selection.
"In the post-COVID era, we must be prepared for the possibility of another major global health event," said Prof. Eytan Wirtheim, CEO of Clalit Health Services. " Clalit led Israel's COVID-19 response in 2020 and published some of the first large-scale studies on the effectiveness and safety of the vaccines.
