The development includes a new central processing platform, two unmanned wellhead platforms, and 79 development wells. Phase one output exceeds 20,500 barrels per day of crude oil.
The Kenli 10-2 cluster is described as China's largest offshore shallow-layer lithological oilfield. It features a "branch-like" heavy oil reservoir with scattered, narrow, thin, and complex sand bodies. CNOOC began producing heavy crude from the project in mid-2025.
The company is expanding domestic output in line with government directives. The field will continue to be developed in additional phases.
