Cobolli and Fritz reach Wimbledon quarterfinals

Flavio Cobolli defeated fifth-seeded Alex De Minaur 7-5, 7-6 (4), 6-3 to reach the Wimbledon quarterfinals. Cobolli served at 135 mph on match point and then performed a midair twirl celebration modeled on Cristiano Ronaldo. The crowd responded with the chant "Siuuu." Cobolli said he once played in Roma's youth soccer system and will support Portugal in its World Cup match against Spain.

Fritz advances on grass Sixth-seeded Taylor Fritz defeated tenth-seeded Alexander Bublik 7-6 (1), 6-4, 6-4. Fritz improved to 11-2 on grass this season and now holds the most grass-court wins on the men's tour since 2020. Fritz is the fourth American man in the past 40 years to reach three or more consecutive Wimbledon quarterfinals.

Next matches Cobolli will face British player Arthur Fery, who grew up five minutes from the All England Club. Fritz's quarterfinal opponent has not yet been determined.
