Colbert Recounts Being Starstruck by Michelle Williams and Andrew Garfield on Strike Force Five Podcast

Stephen Colbert said he was wildly attracted to Michelle Williams and did not know what to do with his eyeballs when the actress appeared on The Late Show for the first time. The comedian shared the admission during an episode of the Strike Force Five podcast released Wednesday. Jimmy Kimmel had asked his fellow late-night hosts whether any guest had been so attractive that it proved distracting.

He continued that she sat down across from him and he thought "F–k, what is wrong with my head? " The host went on to gush about Williams’ vibe and face because he finds her so beautiful.

Michelle Williams first visited The Late Show in April 2019 to promote her miniseries Fosse/Verdon. Her most recent appearance came in April 2025 to discuss her Golden Globe-winning Hulu series Dying for Sex. Colbert also told the podcast he used to have a Rachel Weisz problem.

When Rachel Weisz would be on, he would leave the building for fear he would say something stupid. The conversation turned to Andrew Garfield, whom Colbert said is so attractive. The pair shared an intimate on-screen kiss during a January 2017 episode of The Late Show.

"We did get our hands tangled in each other’s hair. It was really nice," Colbert said of the kiss. He and Garfield laughed about the moment as Jimmy Kimmel chimed in during the podcast. The remarks came as Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers and John Oliver reunited for a new episode of Strike Force Five in honor of the host’s final Late Show episodes.

The Late Show premiered its first episode in September 2015 and will air its last episode on May 21. Colbert will say goodbye to The Late Show later this month. com reported the full set of comments from the podcast.
