Colombia Beats DR Congo 1-0 to Reach World Cup Knockouts

Colombia defeated DR Congo 1-0 on Tuesday in a FIFA World Cup 2026 Group K match played in Guadalajara. The result moved Colombia to the top of the group and confirmed its place in the round of 32 with one fixture remaining. Daniel Muñoz scored the only goal in the 76th minute. The Crystal Palace right-back cut inside from the right and finished after a deflection off a DR Congo defender.

Colombia controlled much of the contest but struggled to break down a compact DR Congo defense. The Le Havre goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi produced several saves that kept his side in the match until the late strike. England played Ghana in a separate Group I fixture at Boston Stadium on the same day. England had opened its campaign with a 4-2 win over Croatia.

The victory gave Colombia its second successive win and improved its position ahead of the final group match. DR Congo remained without a win after the defeat.
