Comcast plans to split from NBCUniversal in a transaction expected to take about a year. Deadline reported that the exact structure remains unannounced. Comcast co-CEO Brian Roberts said on an investor call Monday that the plan was “absolutely not” to prime the company for M&A.
The separation comes as Paramount is expected to complete its $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. Some analysts said the Comcast-NBCUniversal split will not trigger an FCC review, citing the 2005 Viacom split with CBS that avoided such scrutiny.
