Comedian Marcello Hernández will host The ESPYS on July 15, ESPN reported Wednesday. The 2026 awards show will take place at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. It marks the first time the ESPYS have been held in New York in more than 25 years.

The program will air on ABC and stream on the ESPN App. Hernández said in a statement that he began performing stand-up comedy 10 years ago in Cleveland, Ohio. He recalled taking the train 12 hours to New York to sell tickets on the street in Greenwich Village in exchange for stage time.

"It is an honor, and frankly feels crazy to be hosting the ESPYS this year in New York. I'm sure the energy is going to be great," Hernández said. " He played soccer at John Carroll University and is described by ESPN as an avid sports fan.

Hernández joins previous hosts who have included sports and entertainment figures.
