Companies Create New AI Job Titles Across Roles and Salary Levels

AI companies and other employers are posting new job titles that span communications, engineering, ethics, and gig work. The positions reflect efforts to expand AI use inside organizations and to train or align models with specific goals.

Anthropic is seeking a Claude Evangelist to serve as the company's face for the startup ecosystem. Adobe is recruiting a Business Architect & AI Evangelist. OpenAI and Anthropic have increased hiring for communications managers, with starting salaries above $200,000.

The Claude Evangelist role begins at $240,000. Microsoft began publishing a print magazine called Signal last year. Companies generally seek candidates with roughly ten years of experience and established reporter relationships for communications management positions.

Job postings for forward deployed engineers rose about 19 times from the previous year to January 2026, according to Indeed. The role, popularized by Palantir, places specialized engineers with customers to deliver tailored AI solutions rather than off-the-shelf products.

OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Amazon Web Services, and Palantir are among the companies hiring for these positions. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field and experience with multiple coding languages.

Starting salaries range from about $115,000 to $200,000 or higher.

Stripe is hiring a Forward Deployed AI Accelerator to embed within its marketing team and encourage colleagues to make AI the default mode for work. Box is recruiting an AI Business Automation Engineer to integrate AI agents across the company. The Stripe role starts at $132,000 and the Box role at $146,500.

Anthropic and Google DeepMind each employ a resident philosopher to help ensure AI models align with human values. Google DeepMind recently posted an emerging impacts manager role in AI ethics and safety with a base salary between $212,000 and $231,000.

AI and Mercor offer gig-style tasks such as providing feedback on AI model outputs. Uber, DoorDash, and Instawork have begun paying users for uploading photos or videos of chores to train AI models. Pay ranges from $15 to roughly $200 per hour depending on the task.

TikTok is seeking a product designer experienced with AI tools for prototyping. YouTube is hiring an AI Solution Architect who can use AI-assisted development to shorten traditional coding cycles. The TikTok role starts at $108,000 and the YouTube role at $149,000.

PwC appointed a Chief AI Officer in July 2024.

Accenture named its first chief responsible AI officer in 2024. Raymond James created a Principal AI Architect role in 2025. Arkansas is hiring a Chief AI Officer with a starting salary just over $117,000. Glassdoor estimates chief AI officer pay between $265,000 and $494,000.
