A team of designers and engineers has completed a concept model of the next generation of the Spitfire aircraft. The model, called the Aerolite Spitfire Type 433, is a two-seater version built at a fraction of the cost of an original aircraft.
The new model was constructed for about £750,000.
An original Spitfire carries a price tag of more than £3 million. The project demonstrates how modern design and engineering methods can replicate classic aircraft at reduced expense.
