Congressional Candidate Deleted Old Social Media Posts Calling to Abolish Police and Seize Property

In a statement to CNN, Avila Chevalier said the posts “did not reflect who she is today” and accused her opponent of trying to distract from district issues. “My opponent wants to live in the past,” she said. Mayor Zohran Mamdani issued a separate statement reiterating support and describing her as a champion for working families and immigrants.
