A candidate for New York’s 7th congressional district posted a July 4 message on X that listed conditions she said are needed for freedom. “Freedom is only possible when we have the conditions for the good life — healthcare, housing, education, and dignity on the job. But the system is rigged and our planet poisoned by billionaires, bosses, and war profiteers,” the post stated.
The message continued: “This 4th of July we recommit ourselves to remaking it. ”
The candidate received support from Zohran Mamdani. She is one of four candidates described as insurgent socialists who won House primaries last month. The post did not mention the United States or America by name.
