Conor McGregor will return to the octagon for the first time since 2021 when he faces Max Holloway in a nontitle welterweight bout at UFC 329 on July 11. The event will be held at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas during International Fight Week. UFC CEO Dana White announced the matchup on Saturday.

McGregor last fought on July 10, 2021, losing by TKO to Dustin Poirier after breaking his leg in the first round. He had been scheduled to face Michael Chandler in June 2024, but withdrew after sustaining a toe injury. The Irish fighter completed an 18-month suspension in March after missing three drug tests in 2024. He has undergone 11 tests from Combat Sports Anti-Doping authorities in 2025.

Holloway, 34, is a former featherweight champion with a record of 27-9-0. He moved to lightweight in 2025 and is 1-1 in that division, most recently losing a five-round decision to Charles Oliveira in March. The two fighters previously met at featherweight in August 2013, when McGregor won by decision despite a torn ACL.

McGregor holds a professional record of 22-6-0 and was the first UFC fighter to hold titles in two weight classes simultaneously. " — Dana White, May 17, 2026 (Al Jazeera) The card will also feature British fighters Paddy Pimblett, Lone'er Kavanagh, and Luke Riley.
