Planning for 2028 SBA Pro-Life America announced plans to spend $80 million supporting candidates who favor a nationwide abortion cutoff after a certain point in pregnancy. The organization said it will focus on early nominating contests in Iowa and South Carolina.
A separate coalition of groups launched an initiative earlier this year to challenge the legal basis for same-sex marriage and to restrict adoption by gay and lesbian couples. Some Republican officials have also introduced legislation targeting commercial surrogacy.
Gallup polling showed support for same-sex marriage peaked at 71 percent in 2022 before declining in each of the past three years. Moral acceptance of having a child outside marriage also fell, while approval of birth control reached its lowest level in 15 years.
