Cornerback Rasul Douglas Agrees to One-Year Deal with Commanders

Free agent cornerback Rasul Douglas plans to sign a one-year deal with the Washington Commanders worth up to $3.8 million, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Douglas, 30, joined the Miami Dolphins after the 53-man roster cuts and appeared in 15 games during the 2025 season.
He began the year behind Jack Jones and Storm Duck on the depth chart but entered the starting lineup after Duck suffered an injury in Week 1.
Douglas missed two games with foot and ankle injuries, returned in Week 13, and recorded interceptions in the next two contests. He was targeted 82 times in 2025, allowing 54 catches for 515 yards and three touchdowns while defending 13 passes. That total tied for the second-highest single-season mark of his career.
Douglas earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors in Week 14 after defending five passes and intercepting a pass against the New York Jets. Over nine NFL seasons, Douglas has started 93 games for five teams, including the Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, Carolina Panthers, Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills. He has recorded 21 career interceptions.
In 2025 he posted 62 tackles, two interceptions and 13 pass breakups in 15 games with 13 starts. The Commanders ranked 28th in pass defense last season, allowing 242.5 yards per game. Douglas was a third-round draft pick in 2017.
