Crew Member Dies After Going Overboard From Regal Princess Off Cancún

A crew member died after going overboard from the Regal Princess cruise ship off the coast of Cancún, New York Post reported. The worker was discovered dead on Monday after authorities conducted an all-out search, according to a statement from Princess Cruises. The Regal Princess had departed from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, last Saturday.

It is unclear how the crew member ended up in the water near the 19-deck vessel. The individual’s name, age, and job title were not released. “Our heartfelt condolences go out to the crew’s family and friends during this difficult time,” a Princess Cruises spokesperson said.

The company also thanked local maritime authorities and the crew of the Carnival Jubilee for their assistance in the search and rescue efforts. The Regal Princess resumed its voyage after the discovery and is scheduled to stop in Belize on Tuesday. The seven-day cruise is set to return to Fort Lauderdale on Saturday.
